We know that accidents can be devastating. Accidents are stressful and can make it difficult to think clearly.

If you are involved in an accident, however, there are several things you can do to help protect your rights:
  • Take photographs of the accident scene, including skid marks and debris;
  • Take photographs of any vehicles or equipment involved in the accident;
  • If the vehicle or product involved in the accident belongs to you, make arrangements to keep the vehicle or product at a safe location. IF YOU WERE INJURED BY AN UNSAFE PRODUCT, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT WE HAVE THE PRODUCT.
  • If a vehicle is involved in the accident, write down the make, model and year of the vehicle;
  • If a defective product is involved, write down the name of the product, the manufacturer’s name, the model number or name, and any identification numbers or marks on the product;
  • Write down the names, addresses and telephone numbers of all witnesses;
  • If the injury occurred while you were working, report the injury immediately to your employer;
  • Take photographs of your injuries;
  • Keep any medical devices that you have to wear or use (braces, crutches, casts, etc.);
  • Keep a daily log or journal that tracks significant events (days lost from work, doctor’s appointments, and surgeries). Keep track of any restrictions or limitations that you experience.
Things NOT to do:
  • Do not give any recorded or written statements to anyone;
  • Do not sign any releases authorizing anyone except your attorneys to obtain your medical records or other private records.
